NOTICE OF ELECTION - TRUSTEE, ELECTORAL AREA 1 (Greater Campbell River)
PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given to the electors of Electoral Area 1 (Greater Campbell River) that an election by voting will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026 to elect 5 trustees for an approximate 4 year term of office commencing in November 2026. The persons nominated as candidates for the election and for whom votes will be received are:

BOUNDARIES OF TRUSTEE ELECTORAL AREA 1
Trustee Electoral Area 1 (Greater Campbell River) comprises all of the City of Campbell River and Electoral Area D (Oyster Bay-Buttle Lake) of the Strathcona Regional District, and that part of Electoral Area A (Kyuquot/Nootka-Sayward) of the Strathcona Regional District located south and east of Mohun Creek.
GENERAL VOTING DAY
On general voting day, Saturday, October 17, 2026, polls will be open to qualified electors of Trustee Electoral Area 1 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.
Qualified electors for the City of Campbell River are encouraged to vote at one of the following locations which are the only locations at which ballots to elect mayor or council candidates for Campbell River will be available on general voting day:
- Campbell River Community Centre, 401-11th Avenue, Campbell River, B.C.
- Sportsplex, 1800 South Alder Street, Campbell River, B.C.
Qualified electors for Electoral Area D (Oyster Bay-Buttle Lake) of the Strathcona Regional District are encouraged to vote at one of the following locations which are the only locations at which ballots to elect the director for Electoral Area D will be available on general voting day:
- Oyster River School, 2250 Terrain Road, Campbell River, B.C.
- Ocean Grove Elementary School, 3773 McLelan Road, Campbell River, B.C.
- Strathcona Regional District office, 990 Cedar Street, Campbell River, B.C.
Qualified electors for that part of Electoral Area A (Kyuquot-Nootka/Sayward) of the Strathcona Regional District within Trustee Electoral Area 1 are encouraged to vote at the following location:
- Strathcona Regional District office, 990 Cedar Street, Campbell River
Qualified electors may not vote more than once in a trustee election for School District 72 even if they qualify as local government electors in multiple voting jurisdictions.
ADVANCE VOTING OPPORTUNITIES
Advance voting opportunities for electors of Electoral Area 1 (Greater Campbell River) are available between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. at the following locations:
- Campbell River Community Centre, 401-11th Avenue, Campbell River, B.C. on Wednesday, October 7, 2026 and Wednesday, October 14, 2026. Qualified electors of the City of Campbell River are encouraged to vote at this location which is the only location at which ballots to elect mayor or council candidates for Campbell River will be available for advance voting.
- Strathcona Regional District Office, 990 Cedar Street, Campbell River, B.C. on Wednesday, October 7, 2026 and Thursday, October 15, 2026. Qualified electors of Electoral Areas A and D are encouraged to vote at this location, which is the only advance voting location where ballots to elect the directors for Electoral Areas A and D will be available.
MAIL BALLOT VOTING
Mail ballot voting is available to qualified electors within Electoral Area 1 (Greater Campbell River) in accordance with the election bylaws of the Strathcona Regional District and the City of Campbell River. Please contact the City of Campbell River or Strathcona Regional District for further information regarding the process for mail ballot voting within those jurisdictions.
ELECTOR REGISTRATION
Residents of Electoral Area 1 (Greater Campbell River) who are registered to vote with the City of Campbell River or those portions of Electoral Areas A and D of the Strathcona Regional District contained within Electoral Area 1 of School District 72 are automatically deemed to be resident electors for this election.
Residents of the above noted areas who are not currently registered to vote may do so at a voting opportunity, advance voting opportunity or in conjunction with mail ballot voting for the jurisdiction in which they live.
Non-residents of School District 72 who own real property within the area comprising Electoral Area 1 (Greater Campbell River) of School District 72 may be able to register as non-resident property electors for this election. Please contact the Strathcona Regional District or the City of Campbell River for further information regarding the process for registering as a resident elector or non-resident property elector within those jurisdictions.
