Notice of Application For Scrutineers - Bylaw No. 627
On Saturday, October 17, 2026 an assent voting opportunity will be held within:
• Electoral Area B (Cortes Island); and
• Electoral Area C (Discovery Islands-Mainland Inlets)
The Question:
Are you in favour of Bylaw No. 627 which would establish a woodchipping and climate resiliency service within Electoral Area B (Cortes Island) and Electoral Area C (Discovery Islands-Mainland Inlets) with costs to be shared on the basis of converted hospital assessments provided that the maximum amount that can be requisitioned annually by taxation of land and improvements will be $0.059 per $1,000 of property assessments within the participating areas.
Applications are being accepted from eligible electors who wish to volunteer to act as a scrutineer for or against the question.
If sufficient applications are received, one scrutineer for and one scrutineer against the question will be appointed for each voting place. One scrutineer for the question and one scrutineer against the question will also be appointed to be present at the determination of the official results and, if necessary, at a judicial recount.
