Notice - Wildfire Prevention Starts With All of Us
The trails and forested areas throughout the regional district, are enjoyed year-round by hikers, walkers, ATV riders, and side-by-side enthusiasts. While these outdoor spaces provide incredible recreational opportunities, increased activity can also increase the risk of human-caused wildfires.
A single spark from an off-road vehicle, discarded cigarette, or unattended campfire can have devastating consequences for our forests, wildlife, homes, and community.
As we head into wildfire season, everyone can help reduce the risk by:
- Staying on designated trails
- Ensuring ATVs and off-road vehicles are equipped with functioning spark arrestors
- Never discarding cigarettes or matches on the ground
- Following all fire bans and restrictions
- Reporting smoke or fire immediately by calling 9-1-1 or *5555 on a cell phone
Wildfire prevention is a shared responsibility. By recreating responsibly and staying fire aware, we can help protect the places we love and keep our community safe.
Together, we can reduce wildfire risk and preserve our communities natural spaces for future generations.
