Sayward - Free Yard Wood Debris Pickup June 8
Sayward Properties - Please bring your wood debris to the end of your driveway by 9:00 am on Monday, June 8, 2026.
The SRD encourages you to FireSmart your property by bringing your wood debris to the end of your driveway by 9:00 am on Monday, June 8, 2026.
Depending on how many residents participate, it may take a couple of days for the chipper to get to your property.
Debris will be disposed of for free through the Village of Sayward's 2025 FireSmart Community and Funding Support Grant.
How to participate
Sign-up is not required, but if you feel your driveway may be hard to locate, please let us know and we'll note your location on a special list.
Rules and considerations
- No rocks, nails, roots, or treated lumber
- Ideally, all the "butt ends" of brances are pointed the same direction so they can be efficiently fed into the chipper.
- Tree trimmings must be under 16 cm in diameter and maximum 10 m in length.
- No invasive species are allowed (e.g., Scotch Broom, English Holly, Giant Hogweed, Knotweed, etc.).
- The contractor reserves the right not to pick up any piles that do not meet these rules.
- Do not block traffic by piling the debris on the road.
- Any debris brought to the end of the driveways after 9:00 am on June 8 may not be picked up.
- Wood chips cannot be returned to residents as they are considered fule under the FireSmart principles.
- As long as these rules are adhered to, there is no limit to the amount of wood debris that will be chipped.
