Currently, there is no significant change to be shared. The wildfire is holding at 90ha and the forecast is calling for favorable weather conditions tonight and tomorrow. There will be 4 helicopters in action tomorrow and the Kelsey Log Sort will be utilized as a refueling station. Additional ground personnel will be assisting at the site as well. The Village of Sayward is currently responding to a wildfire. Wildfires can destroy homes and wildlife habitats, increase pollution in the air reducing air quality, and can cause injuries, a variety of health concerns and fatalities.
- A Regional EOC (Emergency Operations Centre) has been activated.
- Coastal Fire Centre and BC Wildfire are aware and are providing resources.
- This is NOT an evacuation alert.
This alert will remain in effect until the fire is contained.
Instructions
- If you are not in the area, avoid the area.
- Have a plan to check in on family, friends and vulnerable neighbours.
- Keep all doors and windows closed.
- Reduce time spent outdoors and avoid vigorous outdoor activities.
- Follow the direction of local authorities.
- Do not call 911 for information or updates.
