Public Notice is hereby given that on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 the Board of Directors for the Strathcona Regional District may proceed with final passage and adoption of Bylaw No. 460 which would authorize the Regional District to amend existing agreements with City West Cable and Telephone Corporation (City West) in respect of financing the construction of broadband infrastructure in various communities within the region.
Bylaw No. 460 proposes the following amendments to the agreements with City West:
Indebtedness Agreement In exchange for providing 5% of network infrastructure capital costs the Regional District would receive 20% of the annual net project revenues for a period of 20 years.
Partnership Agreement The capital contribution for the Village of Tahsis is increased from $800,000 to $2,000,000. The Kyuquot area is added as an area to be served at a cost of $39,730. The southern part of Quadra Island is added as an area to be served at no additional cost.
City West would continue to reimburse the Regional District annually for all debt costs (principal and interest) incurred by the Regional District in respect of funds borrowed for this project.

Those persons who wish to object to the passage of Bylaw No. 460 or who believe that the proposed amendments are not in the public interest may file a written objection with the Regional District before 12:00 noon on Friday, June 10, 2022 for consideration by the Regional Board.
