Residents and visitors in the Manson's area may notice increased emergency response activity on Saturday, June 14, as Cortes Island Fire Department and BC Wildfire Service personnel participate in a large-scale wildfire training exercise. The exercise will involve more than 40 firefighters and wildfire personnel operating sprinklers, pumps, hand lines, and other wildfire response equipment.
- Location: Around the Co-op, Manson's Hall, Fire Hall, and surrounding areas.
- Date: Saturday, June 14, 2026
- Time: Approximately 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
This is only a training exercise and there is no emergency. We appreciate the community's patience and support as local and provincial wildfire personnel strengthen their preparedness and response capabilities.
