Accessibility Foundations E-learning Course

About the Course

This on-demand training program was developed to provide foundational accessibility education for staff and elected officials across all partner organizations. Its primary goal is to equip participants with a shared, up-to-date understanding of accessibility and offer insight into how this knowledge applies to their day-to-day roles.

Key themes covered in the course include:

  • Using respectful, current language when discussing disability
  • Understanding the differences between the social and medical models of disability
  • Summarizing the requirements of the Accessible BC Act and how the SRD and partners are meeting them
  • Identifying and addressing accessibility barriers within your organization

This course was made possible through a $25,000 grant from the SPARC BC Local Community Accessibility Grant Program and was developed in collaboration with Untapped Accessibility.
